Formula for unit weight of steel

How (D2/162) × L

Formula for unit weight of steel

There is a formula to calculate the unit weight of steel bars, because steel bar suppliers measure the steel bars as weight. So we have to order them in weight for purchasing. The weight of steel bars can be expressed in kg or quintal or ton.
Derivation for (D2/162) ×L:
Volume of steel  = Area × length
Area of steel = (π/4) × D2
Unit length of steel = 1m
Value of π  = 3.141
Volume of steel  = (3.141/4) × D2 × 1
Unit weight of steel or density of steel   = 7850kg/m3
Weight of steel   = volum Volume of steel
       = Area × length
Area of steel= (π/4) × D2
Unit length of steel = 1m
Value of π  = 3.141
Volume of steel  = (3.141/4) × D2 × 1
Unit weight of steel or density of steel   = 7850kg/m3
Weight of steel   = volume of steel × density
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1 × ( 7850/13)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1000 × (7850/1000×1000×1000)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × (7850/1000×1000)
= 0.785 × D2 × 0.00785
= 0.00162 × D2
e of steel × density
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1 × (7850/13)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1000 × (7850/1000×1000×1000)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × (7850/1000×1000)
= 0.785 × D2 × 0.00785
= 0.00162 × D2
= 0.00162 × D2/1
= D2/162
Formula for Volume of steel= Area × length
Area of steel= (π/4) × D2
Unit length of steel = 1m
Value of π = 3.141
Volume of steel  = (3.141/4) × D2 × 1
Unit weight of steel or density of steel   = 7850kg/m3
Weight of steel   = volume of steel × density
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1 × ( 7850/13)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × 1000 × (7850/1000×1000×1000)
= (3.141/4) × D2 × (7850/1000×1000)
= 0.785 × D2 × 0.00785
= 0.00162 × D2

Per 1m length of bar Weight of steel is
= D2/162 × 1
1 quintal = 100kg
1    ton    = 1000kg
